Not Guilty
Not Guilty tells stories about dogs caught in the awkward moment between innocence and accusation. Each portrait presents a dog as though it has just been discovered after a small domestic misdemeanour, yet the question of guilt remains unresolved.
The series explores the comic tension between what dogs do and what humans imagine they feel. A single glance can suggest guilt, regret, defiance or complete innocence, inviting us to invent stories that may have little to do with what the dog is actually thinking.
At its heart, Not Guilty is about projection, affection and the irresistible human tendency to invent stories around the animals we love. The evidence may seem overwhelming, but the verdict remains open.
